Recent progress in using hybrid silicon polymer composites for wastewater treatment

Hong Chi et al.

Summary: Heavy metal ions, oil and organic pollutants in water not only lead to severe pollution, but also pose serious threats to ecosystems and human health. Organosilicon polymer composites provide a new solution for wastewater treatment due to their hydrophobicity, thermal stability and easy modification. This review summarizes the various structural features and removal mechanisms of silicon containing polymer composites targeted at heavy metal ions, oil and organic pollutants, discussing viewpoints and challenges in adsorption and engineering applications, and proposing possible solutions.

Phosphazene functionalized silsesquioxane-based porous polymers for absorbing I2, CO2 and dyes

Yiqi Wang et al.

Summary: Porous polymers functionalized with phosphazene have been prepared by varying the molar ratio of hexaphenoxycyclotriphosphazene with octavinylsilsesquioxane. The resulting PCS-OP-3 exhibited higher adsorption capacity for iodine vapor, dyes, and CO2 compared to PCS-CP-3. This study demonstrates a feasible method to prepare and tune phosphazene functionalized silsesquioxane-based porous polymers.
