A Caffeic Acid Matrix Improves In Situ Detection and Imaging of Proteins with High Molecular Weight Close to 200,000 Da in Tissues by Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Mass Spectrometry Imaging

Haiqiang Liu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that caffeic acid (CA) can effectively enhance the detection and imaging of high-molecular-weight (HMW) proteins in biological tissue sections through matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI-MSI). Compared to sinapinic acid (SA) and ferulic acid (FA), CA showed superior performance in detecting HMW proteins in biological tissues. Additionally, the use of a CA matrix significantly improved the imaging of proteins on selected tissue sections, demonstrating its potential as a standard organic acid matrix for tissue imaging of HMW proteins.

Copper adhesive tape attached to the reverse side of a non-conductive glass slide to achieve protein MALDI-imaging in FFPE-tissue sections

Ran Wu et al.

Summary: The study introduced a novel method using copper adhesive tape on a non-conductive glass slide for in situ detection and imaging of proteins in FFPE tissue sections, resulting in a higher number of protein ions compared to traditional methods. This new approach has the potential to advance protein MALDI-imaging on non-conductive glass slides.
