Anomalous diffusion, nonergodicity, and ageing for exponentially and logarithmically time-dependent diffusivity: striking differences for massive versus massless particles

Andrey G. Cherstvy et al.

Summary: We investigated a diffusion process with a time-dependent diffusion coefficient and found different behaviors of particle displacement in both overdamped and underdamped limits. The results are applicable to a class of physical systems out of thermal equilibrium where rapid changes in diffusivity occur.

Probability density correlation for PDM-Hamiltonians and superstatistical PDM-partition functions

Maike A. F. dos Santos et al.

Summary: This work investigates the non-Hermitian kinetic operators associated with the PDM Schrodinger equation, offering a simplified picture for PDM quantum systems that admit exact solutions in confining potentials. The study explores solutions for different potential functions and provides an interpretation of the quantum partition function of the canonical ensemble of a PDM system within the context of superstatistics, revealing the inhomogeneity of PDM in terms of beta distribution, Dirac delta distributions, and effective temperatures. Results are reported for sinusoidal and exponential PDM distributions.

Random diffusivity models for scaled Brownian motion

Maike A. F. dos Santos et al.

Summary: This paper proposes two diffusion models for SBM with random diffusivity and shows the main features of each model through thorough analysis of simulation results. The first model is suitable for systems with consistently non-Gaussian diffusion, while the second model is suitable for systems with a transition from non-Gaussian to standard Gaussian processes.

Cusp of Non-Gaussian Density of Particles for a Diffusing Diffusivity Model

M. Hidalgo-Soria et al.

Summary: In a study of a two state jumping diffusivity model for a Brownian process, it was found that Gaussian behavior is recovered in the long measurement times, while short time behavior leads to a non-analytic cusp-like shape in the distribution of displacements. This cusp-like behavior resembles that found in experiments of diffusing particles in disordered environments, and it depends on the existence of finite mean values of waiting times at different states of the model.

Stochastic dynamics and superstatistics of the many-particle kappa distribution

E. Gravanis et al.

Summary: The diffusion of particles with kappa distributed velocities is strongly affected by statistical correlations. The study shows that the superstatistics interpretation is fundamental for understanding kappa distribution, while focusing on a single degree of freedom is inconsistent with this interpretation. The authors also find that the mean energy per degree of freedom is the superstatistical fluctuating temperature in a system with a large number of particles, highlighting the importance of considering correlated degrees of freedom.

Barenblatt-like approach to transport processes in meningeal lymphatic vessel's dynamics

Anastasia Lavrova et al.

Summary: The study introduces a model describing the transfer of a marker inside lymphatic microvessels, emphasizing the pushing pressure generated by vessel's elastic deformation. The model closely resembles the equation of nonlinear diffusion with a localized moving front solution, and simulations successfully reproduce the realistic spatiotemporal dynamics observed in experimental recordings of neutrophil transfer.

Ergodic property of Langevin systems with superstatistical, uncorrelated or correlated diffusivity

Xudong Wang et al.

Summary: Brownian yet non-Gaussian diffusion has been observed in biological and active matter systems lately. The non-Gaussian distribution has been studied in the context of superstatistical dynamics or diffusing diffusivity. Research on a random diffusivity model shows that ensemble-averaged TAMSDs are always normal, while ensemble-averaged mean-squared displacement can be anomalous, with the scatter of dimensionless amplitude determined by the time average of diffusivity D(t).

Microscopic dynamics of nonlinear Fokker-Planck equations

Leonardo Santos

Summary: This study presents an approach to describe the effective microscopic dynamics of nonlinear Fokker-Planck equations, using a nonextensive generalization of the Wiener process. The formalism provides simple analytical results and physical insights, including analytical solutions for nonextensive versions of Brownian free-particle and Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes, as well as explanations for anomalous diffusive behaviors in terms of memory effects in nonextensive Gaussian white noise. The developed formalism is also applied to model thermal noise in electric circuits.
