Does cognitive behaviour therapy for insomnia reduce repetitive negative thinking and sleep-related worry beliefs? A systematic review and meta-analysis

Andrea Ballesio et al.

Summary: Research suggests that cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) has moderate-to-large effects on worry, but small and unreliable effects on rumination. There is no clear evidence for an association between reduction in repetitive negative thinking (RNT) post-treatment and reduction in depression and anxiety post-treatment. While the literature is limited, CBT-I appears to have a stronger impact on sleep-related RNT measures.
