Development of photoluminescent, superhydrophobic, and electrically conductive cotton fibres

Hanan K. Alzahrani et al.

Summary: A simple method for preparing multifunctional nanocomposites was developed to produce water-repellent, electrically conductive, and photoluminescent films on cotton fibers. The surface morphology and coating content of the nanocomposites applied on electrically conductive cotton/nickel fibers affected the superhydrophobic effect. Increasing the luminescence pigment nanoparticles content was found to enhance the superhydrophobic effect.

Luminescence Studies of rare-earth Ce3+ and Dy3+ doped SrAl2O4 aluminate phosphors

Riya Neema et al.

Summary: Rare-earth doped Sr0.96Ce0.04-xDyxAl2O4 [x = 0.03, 0.02, 0.01] aluminate phosphors synthesized by high temperature solid-state reaction route were characterized for structural and luminescence properties. XRD analysis showed double phase with dominant phase of the desired phosphors and trace of secondary phase from unreacted SrCO3. Raman band at around 460 cm(-1) conveyed the monoclinic structure in the sample. UV-Vis studies revealed optical bandgap around 3 eV, thermoluminescence study showed optimal intensity for x = 0.02 concentration, and photoluminescence studies confirmed blue emission for x = 0.03 and 0.02.
