Tribo-oxidation and tribological behaviour of ZrB2-20%volSiC composites coupled with WC and Al2O3 at high temperatures

Hao Chen et al.

Summary: The study found that the coefficient of friction of ZrB2-SiC composites coupled with WC or Al2O3 remained almost constant at different temperatures, with low wear rates. Either discontinuous or continuous tribo-layers formed on the worn surfaces did not exhibit any lubricious or anti-wear effects. The wear mechanism of the composites coupled with WC and Al2O3 included abrasion, tribo-oxidation, and adhesion at temperatures of 25-400 degrees C, and tribo-oxidation and adhesion at higher temperatures (600-800 degrees C).

Influence of nozzle configuration and particle size on characteristics and sliding wear behaviour of HVAF-sprayed WC-CoCr coatings

Kaveh Torkashvand et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of feedstock particle size and nozzle configuration on HVAF-sprayed WC-CoCr coatings. It was found that decreasing feedstock particle size resulted in changes in microstructural features and improved performance of the coatings. The type of nozzle used also had an impact on the sensitivity of fine and coarse feedstock powders, while medium cut size powders showed no major difference in coatings sprayed with different nozzles.
