Facile synthesis of a high efficiency and durability L-citrulline flame retardant for cotton

Yu Chen et al.

Summary: The novel flame retardant ACPMPA, synthesized based on L-citrulline, demonstrated enhanced flame retardancy and durability for cotton fabrics. The treated cotton maintained high LOI even after multiple laundry cycles, showing excellent flame retardant properties with minimal release of flammable volatiles at high temperatures. Additionally, the treated cotton fabric showed no structural changes, no free formaldehyde, and retained good tensile strength and whiteness.

Summary: The tunable optical properties of nanomaterials are directly related to factors such as solvent conditions, synthesis methods, and metal oxidation states. Lanthanide metals with ABO(3) perovskites can be highly tuned by modifying the charged states of the metals, showing stability in aqueous medium and hexagonal geometry. These nanomaterials have potential applications in biological studies due to their tunable emission characteristics and aqueous stability.

From smoldering to flaming fire: Different modes of transition

Bjarne C. Hagen et al.

Summary: The transition from smoldering to flaming fire in cotton is investigated experimentally for different sample sizes, with two identified modes of transition: early and late transition. Larger cotton samples consistently exhibit early transition to flaming, while smaller samples may have different transition modes. By identifying experimental setups and sample sizes, the transition phenomenon can be studied in more detail.

Curing mechanism, thermal and ablative properties of hexa-(4-amino-phenoxy) cyclotriphosphazene/benzoxazine blends

Sipei Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, the new material hexa-(4-amino-phenoxy)-cyclotriphosphazene (CPA) was synthesized and blended with bisphenol-A aniline benzoxazine (BA-a) to improve the thermal and ablative performance. It was found that the addition of CPA could enhance the crosslink density and char yield of the cured blends, leading to a decrease in curing temperature and an increase in ablation rate. The study also showed that CPA effectively improved the graphitization degree of ablated samples and enhanced the integrity of graphite layer crystals, suggesting a promising method for making novel ablative materials.
