Dynamic patterns of YAP1 expression and cellular localization in the developing and injured utricle

Vikrant Borse et al.

Summary: The Hippo signaling pathway plays a crucial role in tissue development and regeneration. YAP1 translocates to the nucleus during inner ear sensory organ development, but its role in sensory regeneration remains unclear. The study found YAP1 expression in the cytoplasm of supporting cells during neonatal development and observed nuclear translocation in the chicken utricle after ototoxic injury, suggesting differences in YAP1 signaling may contribute to varying regenerative abilities between avian and mammalian inner ears.
