Relationship between predicting bleeding complication in patients undergoing stent implantation and subsequent dual antiplatelet therapy (PRECISE-DAPT) score and mortality among patients with atrial fibrillation undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention

Anum Asif et al.

Summary: This retrospective observational study of 18,850 patients undergoing PCI found that the P-DAPT score is effective in identifying patients at high risk for long-term mortality, especially among those with atrial fibrillation.

Variation in Antithrombotic Therapy and Clinical Outcomes in Patients With Preexisting Atrial Fibrillation Undergoing Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Insights From the Society of Thoracic Surgeons/American College of Cardiology Transcatheter Valve Therapy Registry

Matthew W. Sherwood et al.

Summary: The study found significant variability in discharge medication patterns for atrial fibrillation patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement in the US, including significant underuse of oral anticoagulants (OACs). Among patients receiving OAC+APT, there was no lower risk of stroke or mortality compared to OAC alone or APT alone, but an increased risk of bleeding complications at 1 year compared to APT alone.

Dual Antiplatelet Therapy after PCI in Patients at High Bleeding Risk

Marco Valgimigli et al.

Summary: The study showed that one month of dual antiplatelet therapy was noninferior to continuing therapy for at least 2 additional months in terms of net adverse clinical events and major adverse cardiac or cerebral events in patients with high risk of bleeding after drug-eluting stent implantation; abbreviated therapy also resulted in a lower incidence of major or clinically relevant nonmajor bleeding.
