Cobalt Single Atoms on Tetrapyridomacrocyclic Support for Efficient Peroxymonosulfate Activation

Chiheng Chu et al.

Summary: The study introduces a highly efficient peroxide-activation catalyst composed of pyridine-coordinated Co single atoms embedded in a polyaromatic macrostructure. The catalyst demonstrates rapid removal of environmental pollutants and shows a significantly higher turnover frequency compared to benchmark catalysts. Experiment results and density functional theory simulation suggest that the unique structure and electronic interaction of the catalyst contribute to its effectiveness in peroxide precursor activation.

Effect of current-induced coion transfer on the shape of chronopotentiograms of cation-exchange membranes

V. D. Titorova et al.

Summary: Chronopotentiometry using constant current pulses is a powerful method for characterizing ion-exchange membranes, allowing for the quantification of coion transport based on ChP analysis. Coion transport can influence the shape of the chronopotentiogram, with potential peaks observed at overlimiting current densities due to increased coion transfer. Mathematical modeling based on Nernst-Planck-Poisson equations shows that the cause of these peaks is current-induced concentration polarization leading to increased coion transfer.

2D Heterostructured Nanofluidic Channels for Enhanced Desalination Performance of Graphene Oxide Membranes

Yuying Wu et al.

Summary: Adding g-C3N4 sheets into GO membranes to establish stable and sub-nanometer wide channels can significantly improve salt rejection and water permeance. Experimental and theoretical studies have shown that size exclusion is the main mechanism for high rejections, while the ultra-low friction water flow along g-C3N4 sheets enhances permeation. Additionally, the GO/g-C3N4 membrane exhibits promising long-term, antioxidation, and antipressure stability.

High crystallinity and conjugation promote the polarization degree in O-doped g-C3N4 for removing organic pollutants

Xiaojuan Bai et al.

Summary: This paper proposes that doping oxygen atoms into the g-C3N4 skeleton can improve photodegradation efficiency due to enhanced polarization promoted by it-conjugated system expansion and high crystallinity. The higher electronegativity and larger size of oxygen atoms enhance the crystallinity and conjugated plane of g-C3N4, leading to an increase in electrical conductivity and electron delocalization of O-doped g-C3N4, which extremely enhances the polarization degree. The improved photocatalytic performance for diclofenac sodium, bisphenol A, and phenol can be attributed to the rapid photodegradation caused by fast charge separation.
