Comprehensive analysis of important parameters of choline chloride-based deep eutectic solvent pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass

Huanfei Xu et al.

Summary: Choline chloride based deep eutectic solvents have great potential in lignocellulosic biomass pretreatment. Multivariate analysis methods were used to reveal the pretreatment mechanism and found that properties of hydrogen bond donnors and severity of DES had significant influence on the pretreatment effect. Molecular simulation and four-dimensional color graphs were utilized for further optimization of pretreatment conditions to improve economic benefits and energy consumption indicators.

Esterification of cellulose using carboxylic acid-based deep eutectic solvents to produce high-yield cellulose nanofibers

Suling Liu et al.

Summary: This study utilized carboxylic acid-based deep eutectic solvents for pretreating cellulose, resulting in the production of cellulose nanofibers with widths less than 100 nm through simultaneous esterification modifications. Esterification modifications prevented over-hydrolysis and dissolution of cellulose while maintaining the cellulose I crystal structure. The esterified cellulose nanofibers showed improved dispersibility and interfacial compatibility with polylactic acid, leading to mechanical enhancement of CNF/PLA composites.

Cellulose-based Ni-decorated graphene magnetic film for electromagnetic interference shielding

Gaojie Han et al.

Summary: A flexible and ultrathin CNF/TRGO@Ni film with enhanced electrical conductivity and EMI shielding effectiveness has been successfully fabricated in this study. The film maintains only a 7.5% decline in electrical conductivity and EMI SE after being bent 1000 cycles due to its excellent mechanical flexibility. The EMI shielding mechanism is attributed to the combination of enhancing impedance mismatch, multireflection in brick-mortar lamellar structure, and endowing synergetic loss by graphene and Ni nanoparticles.
