Summary: This study explores the impact of nurse assistants and registered nurses on patient satisfaction, finding that while registered nurses are more impactful, nurse assistants have a comparative advantage in improving patient satisfaction in certain situations. Therefore, given their lower labor costs, further employment of nurse assistants may be necessary.

Primary Care Variation in Rates of Unplanned Hospitalizations, Functional Ability, and Quality of Life of Older People

Summary: The study investigated outcomes of older people in New Zealand and the Netherlands based on GP and practice characteristics. It found that while GP or practice characteristics were not significantly associated with unplanned admission rates in the New Zealand sample, larger practices and practices with practice nurses in the Netherlands were linked to higher admission rates. However, differences in function and QOL were consistently small in both samples.
