Utility of Brief Psychological Measures for Prediction of Prolonged Symptom Clearance in Concussed Student Athletes

Kristin Wilmoth et al.

Summary: This study found that anxiety symptoms post-concussion may serve as a useful predictor for prolonged recovery in adolescents with sport-related concussions. The Generalized Anxiety Disorder Screener (GAD-7) was identified as the only significant predictor, with a 1.4-fold increased risk for every point increase. Other factors did not significantly discriminate recovery groups in the full model.
