Effect of Low-Intensity Vibration on Bone Strength, Microstructure, and Adiposity in Pre-Osteoporotic Postmenopausal Women: A Randomized Placebo-Controlled Trial

Chamith S. Rajapakse et al.

Summary: In this study, vibration therapy was applied to postmenopausal women to examine its effects on bone health. The results showed that vibration therapy could improve bone stiffness, reduce marrow fat fraction, and enhance trabecular bone microstructural parameters. Overall, the intervention with vibration therapy appeared to have protective effects on bone strength and lineage of mesenchymal stem cells.

A mechanosensitive peri-arteriolar niche for osteogenesis and lymphopoiesis

Bo Shen et al.

Summary: Stromal cells in adult bone marrow expressing leptin receptor are a critical source of growth factors for haematopoietic stem cells. Among these cells, those expressing osteogenic growth factor osteolectin are poised for osteogenesis, while those near sinusoids are primed for adipogenesis. Mechanical stimulation is crucial for the maintenance of the peri-arteriolar niche for osteogenesis and lymphopoiesis.
