A gain-of-function RAC2 mutation is associated with bone marrow hypoplasia and an autosomal dominant form of severe combined immunodeficiency

Chantal Lagresle-Peyrou et al.

Summary: Severe combined immunodeficiencies (SCID) are life-threatening genetic disorders characterized by T cell deficiency and B-cell compartment defects. A study identified a RAC2 gene mutation associated with SCID, indicating the importance of screening such mutations for diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Liver Abscess in Chronic Granulomatous Disease-Two Decades of Experience from a Tertiary Care Centre in North-West India

Rakesh Kumar Pilania et al.

Summary: This study presents the clinical features, microbiological profile, and treatment challenges faced in managing liver abscesses in CGD patients at a tertiary care center in North-West India, highlighting the necessity for prolonged antimicrobial treatment and the potential benefits of glucocorticoids in reducing inflammation for early resolution of abscesses in CGD. Data from developing countries are limited in literature on this topic.

Clinical and Immunological Characteristics of 63 Patients with Chronic Granulomatous Disease: Hacettepe Experience

Halil Tuna Akar et al.

Summary: Through studying 63 patients with CGD, we found that in our sample from Turkey, the AR form of CGD was more frequent due to a high consanguinity rate, with gastrointestinal involvement found at relatively lower rates. The majority of patients received conventional prophylactic therapies, highlighting the outcomes of individuals who did not undergo HSCT.

Second Report of Chronic Granulomatous Disease in Jordan: Clinical and Genetic Description of 31 Patients From 21 Different Families, Including Families From Lybia and Iraq

Faris Ghalib Bakri et al.

Summary: Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD) is a rare immunodeficiency disorder caused by mutations in genes encoding the superoxide-producing enzyme in phagocytes. Most Jordanian CGD patients have autosomal recessive forms and consanguinity may be a contributing factor in the prevalence of the disease in this population.

Clinical, Immunological, and Molecular Profile of Chronic Granulomatous Disease: A Multi-Centric Study of 236 Patients From India

Amit Rawat et al.

Summary: Chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) is a rare genetic disorder in India, with a higher proportion of autosomal recessive (AR) CGD compared to Western countries, and regional variations in types of AR-CGD. Clinical profiles and mortality rates are similar in both X-linked and AR-CGD, possibly due to milder forms of AR-CGD being overlooked.
