Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) and the Microbiome-Searching the Crime Scene for Clues

Mirae Lee et al.

Summary: Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) result from the interaction of environmental, microbial, immunological, and genetic factors, with alterations in the gut microbiota playing a role in their development and progression. The use of microbiome-based therapies can potentially prevent, manage, and cure IBD, bridging the gap between basic sciences and clinical application through research findings.

Transcriptome profiling reveal Acanthopanax senticosus improves growth performance, immunity and antioxidant capacity by regulating lipid metabolism in GIFT (Oreochromis niloticus)

Hongxia Li et al.

Summary: Acanthopanax senticosus (APS) as a natural and medicinal herb, showed promotive effects on growth and improved immune and antioxidant capacity in GIFT. Supplementation of 2% APS was found to be optimal for growth performance by regulating lipid metabolism. Transcriptome analysis revealed the involvement of lipid metabolism, amino acid metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism, immunity, and antioxidant response in the mechanism of action.

Effect of gut microbiota on LPS-induced acute lung injury by regulating the TLR4/NF-kB signaling pathway

Jia Tang et al.

Summary: The study explores the regulatory mechanism of gut flora in the host defense against LPS-induced ALI through the TLR4/NF-kB pathway. It is found that gut microbiota imbalance may regulate the TLR4/NF-kB signaling pathway in the lung immune system, activating oxidative stress in the lung and mediating lung injury through the regulation of the gut barrier. Additionally, fecal microbiota transplantation impairs the activity of the TLR4/NF-kB signaling pathway in the lung and decreases oxidative stress in animals with ALI by restoring the gut microecology.

Xiaoya Wang et al.

Summary: The study concluded that the macroporous resin HPD-600 was effective in purifying Acanthopanax senticosus total flavonoids (ASTFs) and increasing their purity. Additionally, the antioxidant capacity of ASTFs was found to be higher than that of EAS but lower than that of L-ascorbic acid.
