The removal of moisture and antibiotic resistance genes in dairy manure by microwave treatment

Tao Luo et al.

Summary: This study found that microwave heating can effectively promote the drying of dairy manure and significantly reduce the concentration of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in less than 1 minute. Microwave treatment had no significant impact on volatile solid content, providing a feasible research direction for drying dairy manure and reducing ARGs.

Characteristics of torrefied fuel pellets obtained from co-pelletization of agriculture residues with pyrolysis oil

Tumpa Rani Sarker et al.

Summary: This study investigated the co-pelletizing characteristics of agricultural wastes to convert low value by-products into high value fuel pellets. Pyrolysis bio-oil was used as a binder, and microwave torrefaction was conducted to improve the properties of the pellets. The results showed that co-pelletization can enhance mechanical strength and durability of pellets, while torrefaction increased heating value and porosity of the pellets.
