The nitrogen removal characterization of a cold-adapted bacterium: Bacillus simplex H-b

Qian Yang et al.

Summary: The psychrotrophic bacterium strain Bacillus simplex H-b showed potential for biological nitrogen removal process at low temperatures, demonstrating high removal efficiencies for nitrate-N, nitrite-N, and ammonium-N at 10 degrees C. Additionally, the strain was found to resist low temperature stress through its cellular extreme environment resistant mechanism. This newly isolated strain could be a promising candidate for nitrogen contaminated wastewater treatment, especially in low-temperature conditions.

Nitrate removal from low C/N wastewater at low temperature by immobilized Pseudomonas sp. Y39-6 with versatile nitrate metabolism pathways

Duoying Zhang et al.

Summary: The study focused on nitrate removal from low C/N wastewater at low temperature and found that Pseudomonas sp. Y39-6 can effectively remove nitrate through aerobic-heterotrophic denitrification and unusual aerobic-autotrophic nitrate removal mechanisms. By immobilizing Y39-6 in carriers and using them in a moving bed biofilm reactor, a high nitrate removal rate was achieved under specific conditions.

Multiomics analysis provides insights into alkali stress tolerance of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.)

Huiying Lu et al.

Summary: Sunflower exhibits strong alkali tolerance. Alkali stress alters the lipid components of sunflower seeds, potentially affecting the quality of sunflower seed oils. Alkali stress promotes the accumulation of various substances in sunflower roots. Interaction of multiple phytohormones and bioactive molecules play a role in mediating alkali tolerance in sunflower.
