Immobilization of Aspergillus oryzae β-galactosidase in cation functionalized agarose matrix and its application in the synthesis of lactulose

Summary: Aspergillus oryzae beta-galactosidase was immobilized in in-house quaternary ammonium agarose (QAA) for the first time to synthesis lactulose, resulting in a biocatalyst with high specific activity. The immobilized enzyme showed higher yield and specific productivity in batch reactions, and the support could be reused without compromising yield, productivity, and selectivity, reducing economic impact.
