Functional regeneration and repair of tendons using biomimetic scaffolds loaded with recombinant periostin

Yu Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that periostin can promote TSPC proliferation, maintenance of stemness, and prevention of functional impairment. Using a biomimetic scaffold loaded with recombinant periostin, it is possible to promote endogenous TSPC recruitment, tendon regeneration, and repair.

3D printing of chemical-empowered tendon stem/progenitor cells for functional tissue repair

Yanjie Zhang et al.

Summary: By using small molecules in an ex vivo culture system, this study established an effective stepwise culture strategy for TSPCs application, leading to enhanced expression of tendon-related genes and proteins. Combining small molecule-based culture system with 3D printing technology enabled the construction of engineered tendon grafts, which showed improved ability in promoting functional tendon repair and regeneration in vivo and in situ.
