Extraction of Cu2+ and Co2+ by using Tricholoma populinum loaded onto Amberlite XAD-4

S. Ozdemir et al.

Summary: The study proposed an alternative preconcentration method using T. populinum for the sensitive preconcentration of Cu(2+)and Co2+, which was found to be selective for the two ions. By investigating experimental variables in the SPE process and analyzing surface functionalities of the biosorbents, the method showed good performance in sample concentration.

Preconcentrations of Ni(II) and Pb(II) from water and food samples by solid-phase extraction using Pleurotus ostreatus immobilized iron oxide nanoparticles

Sadin Ozdemir et al.

Summary: This study explores the biosorption potential of Pleurotus ostreatus immobilized magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles for solid-phase extractions of Ni(II) and Pb(II) ions from water and food samples. The method showed high biosorption capacities and low limits of detection and quantitation for the metal ions.

First usage of ostracod species (Herpetocypris brevicaudata) carapace as a biosorbent with XAD-4 resin to determine Co(II), Cu(II) and Mn(II) trace metal ions

Berrin Topuz et al.

Summary: Powdered ostracod carapace of the species (Herpetocypris brevicaudata) loaded on Amberlite XAD-4 resin was used as a biosorbent for determining concentrations of trace metal ions in water samples. Optimum pH values for Cu(II), Co(II) and Mn(II) were around 10.0. The sorption capacity of AXAD-4 resin loaded with H. brevicaudata was evaluated for Cu(II), Co(II) and Mn(II) with satisfactory results.

Chemically modified rice husk as an effective adsorbent for removal of palladium ions

Kareem A. Nabieh et al.

Summary: The bio-matrix of rice husk was modified and used for preconcentration of Pd2+ prior flame atomic absorption spectrometric determination. The material was characterized and evaluated for its adsorption capacity under different parameters, achieving a maximum capacity at optimum conditions. The method showed good detection limits and dynamic analytical range, with the sorbent capable of regeneration for multiple cycles without significant reduction in adsorption capacity.
