Stability of Patches of Higher Population Density within the Heterogenous Distribution of the Gray Field Slug Deroceras reticulatum in Arable Fields in the UK

Emily Forbes et al.

Summary: This study investigated the distribution of gray field slugs in arable fields and found patches of higher slug densities in all fields across different regions of the UK. These patches of higher slug density were found to display spatio-temporal stability, occurring in the same locations in each field and showing a high degree of correlation between sampling dates.

Evaluation of Slug Refuge Traps in a Soybean Reduced-Tillage Cover Crop System

Amy L. Raudenbush et al.

Summary: As nocturnal pests, slugs are difficult to monitor during the day, leading to the development of trapping methods. This study compared two types of slug refuge traps in soybeans and found that the modified trap was more efficient, especially at lower slug densities.

Direct and Indirect Effects of Forest Anthropogenic Disturbance on Above and Below Ground Communities and Litter Decomposition

Idaline Laigle et al.

Summary: This study investigates the direct and indirect effects of anthropogenic disturbances on multi-trophic soil communities in a boreal forest, finding that forest disturbance intensity has bottom-up effects on species community composition. Changes in faunal communities due to disturbance were found to impact leaf litter decomposition.
