Microphysics effects of anthropogenic aerosols on urban heavy precipitation over the Pearl River Delta, China

Qimin Cao et al.

Summary: The study used a model to simulate cloud microphysics processes of an urban heavy precipitation event over the Pearl River Delta in China. Results showed that under present-day pollution conditions, precipitation was more centralized and intense compared to pre-urbanization conditions. Different types of precipitation also varied in distribution and characteristics under different emission intensities.

Biogenic secondary organic aerosols: A review on formation mechanism, analytical challenges and environmental impacts

Mithlesh Mahilang et al.

Summary: The review discusses the atmospheric reaction mechanism of BVOCs and the formation of secondary organic aerosols, highlighting differences between day and night in SOA formation. Daytime SOA formation is dominated by OH and O-3, while nighttime formation is dominated by NOx. Analytical techniques like 2D-GC/MS are essential for studying organic aerosols, and radiative forcing SOA is a useful parameter for evaluating environmental impacts.

Aerosol properties, trends and classification of key types over the Middle East from satellite-derived atmospheric optical data

S. Sabetghadam et al.

Summary: Analyses of aerosol optical properties over the Middle East from 2001 to 2019 reveal significant seasonal and regional variability. The study shows that AOD values are highest over the Arabian Peninsula and southeastern Iran to western Pakistan, while lowest values are found over countries in the northern part of the region. The study also identifies dominance of mixed type aerosols in all seasons, with desert dust playing a significant role in spring and summer.
