The Effect of Atmosphere-Ocean Coupling on the Structure and Intensity of Tropical Cyclone Bejisa in the Southwest Indian Ocean

Soline Bielli et al.

Summary: Numerical simulations were used to assess the impact of air-sea interactions on the behavior of tropical cyclone Bejisa in 2014, with 1D and 3D coupled experiments showing more consistency with observations in terms of sea surface cooling. Heat fluxes and intensity of the tropical cyclone were reduced in both 1D and 3D coupling configurations compared to uncoupled experiments.
