Enhanced proton parallel temperature inside patches of switchbacks in the inner heliosphere

L. D. Woodham et al.

Summary: The study shows that patches of switchbacks in the solar wind are highlighted by transverse deflections in the flow and magnetic field away from the radial direction. These deflections are correlated with enhancements in parallel proton temperature, while perpendicular proton temperature remains relatively constant. Patches sometimes exhibit small enhancements in proton and electron density.

First Solar Orbiter observation of the Alfvenic slow wind and identification of its solar source

R. D'Amicis et al.

Summary: The study focuses on characterising an Alfvenic slow solar wind interval observed by Solar Orbiter between 14 and 18 July 2020 at a heliocentric distance of 0.64 AU. Analysis is based on plasma moments and magnetic field measurements, comparing different parameters and conducting spectral analysis to highlight features and waves. Solar Orbiter's magnetic connectivity to solar sources was reconstructed via ballistic and PFSS models.

Switchback-like structures observed by Solar Orbiter

A. Fedorov et al.

Summary: Researchers discovered that fluctuations in the solar wind and the phenomenon of rapid polarity reversals may have the same origin, possibly due to solar wind velocity shearing causing magnetic field lines to bend and produce flux ropes. These results provide further explanation for solar wind phenomena near the Sun.

Automated Multi-Dataset Analysis (AMDA): An on-line database and analysis tool for heliospheric and planetary plasma data

V Genot et al.

Summary: Accessing, visualizing and analyzing heterogeneous plasma datasets has been a tedious task, hindering students and senior researchers. Providing user-friendly and versatile tools is crucial for data centres to enhance science return on data. AMDA, developed by CDPP, offers unique capabilities for educational purposes.
