Spi-OPS: Spitzer and CHEOPS confirm the near-polar orbit of MASCARA-1 b and reveal a hint of dayside reflection

M. J. Hooton et al.

Summary: In this study, the light curves of the ultra-hot Jupiter MASCARA-1 b were analyzed using advanced modeling techniques. The true spin-orbit angle Psi was successfully determined, and the day-side and night-side temperatures, as well as albedo, of the planet were derived. The study emphasizes the importance of using priors based on Doppler tomography for accurate measurements.

G. Scandariato et al.

Summary: This study focuses on analyzing the atmosphere of exoplanet 51 Peg b using high-resolution spectroscopy. By comparing the light reflected by the planet with the high signal-to-noise ratio stellar spectrum, an upper limit on the planet-to-star flux contrast was derived in the optical.

Characterizing Exoplanetary Atmospheres at High Resolution with SPIRou: Detection of Water on HD 189733 b

Anne Boucher et al.

Summary: This study presents the first exoplanet atmospheric detection as part of the SPIRou Legacy Survey, successfully detecting water vapor absorption on HD 189733b and constraining atmospheric parameters. The study also reveals a large blueshift in the planet signal, which is consistent with previous studies of the planet.

Detection of Ionized Calcium in the Atmosphere of the Ultra-hot Jupiter WASP-76b

Emily K. Deibert et al.

Summary: New high-resolution transit spectroscopy of the ultra-hot Jupiter WASP-76b reveals absorption features of neutral sodium and a new detection of the ionized calcium triplet in its atmosphere, with line depths significantly larger than predicted by models. This suggests that the probed layers are either significantly hotter than predicted by radiative equilibrium and/or in a hydrodynamic state, shedding light on the exotic atmosphere of this ultra-hot world.

First Detection of Hydroxyl Radical Emission from an Exoplanet Atmosphere: High-dispersion Characterization of WASP-33b Using Subaru/IRD

Stevanus K. Nugroho et al.

Summary: The study reports the first detection of a hydroxyl radical (OH) emission signature in the planetary atmosphere outside the solar system, specifically in the dayside of WASP-33b. Using high-resolution near-infrared emission spectra, OH and H2O emission signatures were detected on the dayside atmosphere of ultra-hot Jupiters, providing insights into the composition and characteristics of their atmospheres.

Visible-light Phase Curves from the Second Year of the TESS Primary Mission

Ian Wong et al.

Summary: A systematic study was conducted on full-orbit phase curves for known transiting systems in the northern ecliptic sky observed during the second year of the TESS primary mission. Secondary eclipses and atmospheric brightness modulations were observed in seven of the 15 transiting systems analyzed. Combining TESS and Spitzer measurements allowed for the calculation of dayside brightness temperatures, albedos, and phase integrals for several systems, providing insights into exoplanet clouds. Atmospheric retrieval of the full secondary eclipse spectrum for Kepler-13Ab revealed noninverted temperature-pressure profiles and significant absorption features, confirming previous findings on geometric albedo.
