Expression and functional characterization of the mannose receptor (MR) from Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in response to bacterial infection

Xiaoxue Yin et al.

Summary: This study revealed the crucial role of mannose receptor in response against bacterial infection in Nile tilapia. The expression of mannose receptor is regulated by cell stimulation, and it can modulate the phagocytic ability of monocytes/macrophages to pathogenic bacteria.

An immersion subunit vaccine loaded by single-walled carbon nanotube protects pearl gentian grouper from viral nervous necrosis virus

Gao-Yang Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, recombinant major capsid protein (MCP) of nervous necrosis virus (NNV) was used as a subunit vaccine, with single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) as a carrier. The vaccine showed increased protection when carried by SWCNTs, providing higher survival rates in pearl gentian grouper challenged with NNV. The results demonstrated the effectiveness of the immersion subunit vaccine loaded by SWCNTs in protecting the grouper from NNV infection.

Potency and efficacy of VP20-based vaccine against tilapia lake virus using different prime-boost vaccination regimens in tilapia

Weiwei Zeng et al.

Summary: The VP20-based vaccine can elicit both humoral and cellular immune responses and significantly protect fish against infectious challenge by Tilapia lake virus (TiLV). The DNA prime-protein boost immunization strategy showed the potential advantage over solo vaccination.
