Total replacement of fish meal by enriched-fatty acid Hermetia illucens meal did not substantially affect growth parameters or innate immune status and improved whole body biochemical quality of Nile tilapia juveniles

Pamphile S. Agbohessou et al.

Summary: The study found that diets enriched with fatty acids did not improve digestive enzyme activities or immune parameters, but the BSF/T0 diet increased lysozyme and ACH50 values. Overall, Nile tilapia juveniles can be fed BSF meal instead of FM without substantial effects on growth or innate immune status, but the decrease in fish carcass FA quality induced by the BSF meal can be prevented by a well-defined PUFA enrichment protocol.
