Regulation of hydrophobicity on yttria stabilized zirconia surface by femtosecond laser

Xiaomao Sun et al.

Summary: The superhydrophobic YSZ surfaces with micro-nano composite structures were successfully prepared by one-step laser texturing, significantly improving the hydrophobicity. The increase in contact angle from 86.7 degrees to 151.8 degrees indicates the transition from hydrophilic to superhydrophobic surface. Surface chemical analysis revealed that the enhancement of hydrophobicity is attributed to the decrease in surface polarity and the formation of micro-nano composite structures.
