Ultrafast spin current generated from an antiferromagnet

Hongsong Qiu et al.

Summary: Antiferromagnets (AFMs) have the potential to push spintronic devices to terahertz range for high-speed processing, but their insensitivity to magnetic fields makes spin current manipulation difficult. By optically generating ultrafast spin currents in AFM/HM heterostructures, a new avenue for fundamental research into antiferromagnetism and AFM spintronic devices has been opened.

Spin Seebeck effect in the 2D ferromagnetic CrPbTe3

Brahim Marfoua et al.

Summary: The spin Seebeck effect was investigated in a 2D ferromagnetic CrPbTe3 layer, revealing insights into minority spin electron carriers and their impact on effective mass and deformation potential. The study also found dependencies on spin and carrier type in the electrical conductivity onset energy, with the majority spin carrier controlling effective spin and charge Seebeck coefficients in hole-doped systems, and the minority spin carrier in electron-doped systems. The maximum spin Seebeck coefficient obtained was 1320 muV/K at 50 K, with a reduced but still significant value of 715 muV/K at 100 K.

Role of Ferromagnetic Monolayer WSe2 Flakes in the Pt/Y3Fe5O12 Bilayer Structure in the Longitudinal Spin Seebeck Effect

Won-Yong Lee et al.

Summary: The introduction of a monolayer tungsten diselenide (ML WSe2) interlayer in the Pt/YIG bilayer system increases the longitudinal SSE (LSSE) voltage significantly by enhancing spin accumulation in the Pt layer. The spin fluctuation in ML WSe2 amplifies spin current transmission, leading to a substantial improvement in thermopower. Additionally, the induced ferromagnetic properties of the ML WSe2 flakes boost the LSSE voltage.

Spin caloritronics in two-dimensional CrI3/NiCl2 van derWaals heterostructures

Xingyi Tan et al.

Summary: Research has constructed two types of magnetic CrI3/NiCl2 vdW heterostructures that can be easily converted to different magnetic semiconducting states by an external electric field. Under a temperature gradient, two thermal spin-dependent currents with opposite spin orientations can flow independently in different layers, showing a nearly perfect thermal spin-filtering effect and a well-defined spin-Seebeck effect.
