Magdy Shebl et al.

Summary: New mononuclear copper(II), nickel(II) and cobalt(II) hydrazone complexes of 2-cyano-N '-((4-oxo-4H-chromen-3-yl)methylene)acetohydrazide have been synthesized and characterized through various physicochemical and spectroscopic techniques, illustrating their coordination properties and geometries. Additionally, the phenoxazinone synthase activity of the copper(II) complexes and antimicrobial activity of the hydrazone ligand and its complexes were studied and discussed.

Design, synthesis, characterization, and biological evaluation of nicotinoyl thioureas as antimicrobial and antioxidant agents

Bunyamin Ozgeris

Summary: A series of thioureas were synthesized from various amines and nicotinic acid, exhibiting antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. These compounds showed moderate activity against bacteria causing nosocomial infections with acquired resistance to antibiotics, along with strong antioxidant properties. Thus, they have the potential to be developed as agents for treating bacterial infections and health issues related to aging such as cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.

Summary: Five oxovanadium(IV) complexes were synthesized and characterized, showing cytotoxicity against MCF-7, MDA-MB-231 and 3T3 cells. The complex containing the S-propyl group exhibited the highest cytotoxicity. Additionally, the complexes inhibited elastase, xanthine oxidase, and neuraminidase enzymes, with the complexes bearing ethyl and propyl groups showing promising inhibition of neuraminidase.

Summary: The reaction of 1,3-Diisobutyl thiourea with metal salts yielded corresponding metal complexes, which were characterized by FT-IR data and proposed structures. The complexes showed dose-dependent free radical scavenging activity, with Compound 1 being the most efficient. Additionally, Compound 1 exhibited higher activity against P. aeruginosa compared to the standard drug cephradine.
