Comparison of the safety and immunogenicity of a novel Matrix-M-adjuvanted nanoparticle influenza vaccine with a quadrivalent seasonal influenza vaccine in older adults: a phase 3 randomised controlled trial

Vivek Shinde et al.

Summary: The study aimed to compare the immunological responses of the Matrix-M-adjuvanted quadrivalent nanoparticle influenza vaccine (qNIV) with a licensed, standard-dose quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV4) in older adults. The results showed that qNIV was immunologically non-inferior to IIV4, well tolerated, and produced enhanced immune responses in older adults, indicating potential effectiveness in seasonal influenza vaccination.

Homologous Recombination Offers Advantages over Transposition-Based Systems to Generate Recombinant Baculovirus for Adeno-Associated Viral Vector Production

Aurelien Jacob et al.

Summary: Manufacturing viral vectors for gene delivery is challenging, with a scalable baculovirus-insect cell platform being used for producing rAAV vectors. A faster and safer method based on homologous recombination (HR) has been investigated to avoid technical constraints and safety concerns associated with the Tn7 transposition method. The HR system offers increased stability and avoids undesirable bacterial genes, ensuring the generation of safer rAAV biotherapeutic products.

Evaluation of the Nucleopolyhedrovirus of Anticarsia gemmatalis as a Vector for Gene Therapy in Mammals

Cintia N. Parsza et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the budded virions of Anticarsia gemmatalis multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (AgMNPV) can transduce and support the expression of delivered genes in mammalian cells but do not replicate. Therefore, AgMNPV has the potential to be used as an alternative to non-infectious viruses in humans for exploring new approaches in gene therapy and other applications based on the use of mammalian cells.
