MILP and MINLP models for the optimal scheduling of multi-energy systems accounting for delivery temperature of units, topology and non-isothermal mixing

Luca Moretti et al.

Summary: The study introduces a novel operational planning method for Multi-Energy Systems that can accurately simulate the operational characteristics of thermal generators and thermal energy storage within the system. Compared to traditional models, this new approach can effectively reduce operating costs and meet the target heat delivery temperature requirements.

Optimal planning of distributed hydrogen-based multi-energy systems

Jinhui Liu et al.

Summary: Hydrogen as a clean and renewable energy source has gained attention for replacing fossil fuels. Multi-energy storage units in distributed hydrogen-based systems can significantly reduce system costs, with hot water storage units showing the best benefits. The DHME system is environmentally friendly and can reduce carbon emissions drastically, especially in regions with high solar radiation. Additionally, with optimistic hydrogen pricing targets set by the USA Department of Energy, the DHME system can reduce operating expenses by up to 60.0% compared to conventional electricity-driven systems.
