Preparation and characterization of manganese oxides supported on functionalized halloysite nanotubes with enhanced catalytic oxidation for toluene

Jinyu Huang et al.

Summary: In this study, halloysite nanotubes treated with an acid and intercalation were used as a functionalized structure to load and enhance the dispersion of Mn oxide for toluene oxidation. Characterization techniques confirmed the successful loading of different types of MnO2 on the external surface of the nanotubes, leading to improved catalytic performance. The study highlighted the importance of valence state, oxygen vacancy, and active site dispersion in determining the catalytic activity of the supported manganese oxides on halloysite nanotubes.

Impact of the interaction between hematite and halloysite on environmental fate of organic pollutants

Min Xia et al.

Summary: The interaction between halloysite and hematite affects the environmental fate of organic pollutants by altering their adsorption and degradation processes, as demonstrated in this study. The presence of hematite changes the Zeta potential of halloysite, while halloysite enhances the dispersion of hematite and improves the activation of H2O2 for degradation of pollutants. The hydroxyl radicals were identified as the main reactive species for the degradation process, highlighting the importance of understanding the migration, enrichment, and degradation of organic pollutants in soil.

Halloysite nanotubes filled with salicylic acid and sodium diclofenac: effects of vacuum pumping on loading and release properties

Lorenzo Lisuzzo et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of vacuum pumping on the loading efficiencies and release kinetics of halloysite nanotubes filled with drug molecules dissolved in ethanol. Various techniques were employed to characterize the drug-filled nanoclays, and the release kinetics of the drugs were studied and interpreted based on the loading mechanism. This work represents a step towards developing nanotubular carriers with tunable release features based on the loading protocol and drug localization.
