Efficient Photocatalytic Overall Water Splitting Induced by the Giant Internal Electric Field of a g-C3N4/rGO/PDIP Z-Scheme Heterojunction

Xianjie Chen et al.

Summary: The research successfully constructed a graphitic carbon nitride/rGO/perylene diimide polymer (g-C3N4/rGO/PDIP) Z-scheme heterojunction, achieving high-efficiency and stable photocatalytic overall water splitting activity. By building a giant internal electric field in the Z-scheme junction, the charge separation efficiency was significantly improved, leading to higher hydrogen and oxygen evolution rates, quantum efficiency, and solar-to-hydrogen energy conversion efficiency.

A direct Z-scheme heterojunction with boosted transportation of photogenerated charge carriers for highly efficient photodegradation of PFOA: Reaction kinetics and mechanism

Haodong Tang et al.

Summary: The Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst of core-shell CeO2@NiAl-LDHs shows high efficiency in removing PFOA, with a photodegradation performance of 90.2% and 36.1 mg g(-1) h(-1). Factors affecting the photodegradation process were explored, and the presence of a built-in electric field (BIEF) in the heterojunction was confirmed to promote photogenerated carriers and enhance photocatalytic performance. The efficient degradation of PFOA is attributed to the synergistic effects of reduction and defluorination by electrons, as well as oxidation by active free radicals.

Precise location and regulation of active sites for highly efficient photocatalytic synthesis of ammonia by facet-dependent BiVO4 single crystals

Guanhua Zhang et al.

Summary: Based on characterizations and experiments, it was confirmed that the cycle of oxygen vacancy-V4+/V5+ on the (040) facet is the exact active site for the photocatalytic NRR by bismuth vanadate single crystal. V4+ plays a role in N2 chemisorption, V5+ acts as an electron transfer bridge. In contrast, the (110) facet is a more inert facet for the pNRR.

Pristine hexagonal CdS assembled with NiV LDH nanosheet formed p-n heterojunction for efficient photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Mengxue Yang et al.

Summary: Efficient charge utilization in photocatalysis is crucial for improving photocatalytic hydrogen evolution and achieving excellent performance of semiconductors. By providing an additional electric field, the migration efficiency of electron-hole pairs can be improved, allowing for the assembly of a novel p-n heterojunction photocatalyst named CNV-2. This combination of CdS and NiV LDH enhances photocatalytic hydrogen-production efficiency and has potential for water-splitting reaction and energy storage.

Direct Z-scheme CeO2@LDH core-shell heterostructure for photodegradation of Rhodamine B by synergistic persulfate activation

Chao Yang et al.

Summary: The CeO2@LDH photocatalyst demonstrates excellent persulfate activation performance and high degradation efficiency under visible light irradiation. The Z-scheme structure effectively facilitates the transfer of hot carriers and inhibits the recombination of electron-hole pairs, generating more active species for photodegradation. This system shows promise for degrading RhB and potentially other organic pollutants.

Modulation of photo-generated solvated electrons for ammonia synthesis via facet-dependent engineering of heterojunctions

Guanhua Zhang et al.

Summary: The structurally arranged CdS and LDHs form a heterojunction to effectively generate and transport solvated electrons, thereby promoting the photocatalytic activity of ammonia synthesis. This configuration facilitates bulk-charge separation and drives the reduction of N-2, leading to improved efficiency in the rate-determining step for ammonia synthesis.
