Porous γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticle decorated with atomically dispersed platinum: Study on atomic site structural change and gas sensor activity evolution

Qiheng Li et al.

Summary: Decorating semi-conducting metal oxide with noble metal single atom sites has been proven to be an effective way to improve the sensitivity and selectivity of gas sensors. The atomically dispersed platinum on one-dimensional arranged porous gamma-Fe2O3 nanoparticle composites showed high response and good selectivity to ethanol gas, indicating the potential for ISAS-enhanced gas sensors for other volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This work highlights the importance of noble metal single atom sites in enhancing the performance of metal oxide gas sensors.

Revealing the activity of different iron carbides for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis

Fangxu Lu et al.

Summary: Research on iron-based catalysts doped with SiO2 or Al2O3 has shown that adjusting the formation of iron carbides can enhance the activity of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reactions. Characterization results using techniques such as XPS and CO-DRIFTS revealed that SiO2 or Al2O3 affects the electronic state of iron atoms and promotes the formation of Fe-Si or Fe-Al interactions on the surface of iron powder, which in turn plays a key role in the formation of the active phase ε-Fe2C. The content of ε-Fe2C is found to be more beneficial to activity compared to the traditionally recognized active phase χ-Fe5C2 in Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reactions.

Selective hydrogenation of CO2 and CO into olefins over Sodium- and Zinc-Promoted iron carbide catalysts

Zhiqiang Zhang et al.

Summary: The Na- and Zn-promoted iron catalyst efficiently converts CO2 and CO into C-2 olefins with high selectivity and space-time yield, where ZnO facilitates the reverse water-gas shift reaction, chi- Fe5C2 catalyzes CO hydrogenation, and Na+ suppresses olefin hydrogenation. The close proximity between ZnO and chi-Fe5C2 plays a key role in the conversion of CO2 to olefins.

Unraveling the Role of Zinc on Bimetallic Fe5C2-ZnO Catalysts for Highly Selective Carbon Dioxide Hydrogenation to High Carbon α-Olefins

Chao Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, Fe-Zn catalysts were prepared and examined for the direct synthesis of linear high carbon alpha-olefins from CO2 hydrogenation. The Fe2Zn1 catalyst showed high selectivity and stability, with Zn and Na migration suppressing the oxidation of FeCx during activation. This research revealed the deactivation mechanism and stabilization effects of Zn on FeCx during CO2 hydrogenation.
