The bronchial segmentation and its anatomical variations. A clinical-anatomic and bronchoscopy study

Summary: The development of interventional respiratory medicine relies on bronchial anatomical knowledge and variations, with this study aiming to describe the frequency of variations and analyze bronchial lengths. Results revealed no significant differences in variation incidence or bronchus length by sex, with the left main bronchus being the longest and the left upper lobe bronchus the shortest. Variations were most common in the right lower lobe, with the subsuperior bronchus (B*) being the most frequent. Despite a small sample size, a high percentage of variations were observed, suggesting a potential high prevalence of variations in the general population.
