Cluster of highly expressed interferon-stimulated genes associate more with African ancestry than disease activity in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. A systematic review of cross-sectional studies

Kanwal Z. Siddiqi et al.

Summary: This study characterized the expression of interferon-stimulated genes in the blood of systemic lupus erythematosus patients and found that the expression of these genes was influenced by African ancestry rather than disease activity. Therefore, consideration of ancestral factors is necessary when using the interferon signature in clinical research.
