Accounting for missing data caused by drug cessation in observational comparative effectiveness research: a simulation study

Denis Mongin et al.

Summary: This study assessed the performance of statistical methods used to compare drug effectiveness in the presence of attrition. The results showed that only multiple imputation and inverse probability weighting, which considered both confounding and treatment cessation reasons, produced accurate comparative effectiveness estimates.

Summary: This article systematically examines the methods and designs of pragmatic trials for pain therapies, highlighting the need for improvement in patient recruitment, reporting of methods, analysis, and interpretation of data.

Analysing and reporting of observational data: a systematic review informing the EULAR points to consider when analysing and reporting comparative effectiveness research with observational data in rheumatology

Kim Lauper et al.

Summary: A systematic review of comparative effectiveness research in rheumatology from 2008 to 2019 found that most studies did not adequately address missing data and attrition, with a portion of studies failing to adjust for confounding factors. Recommendations for improved assessment and reporting of comparative drug effectiveness in observational data are needed in the field.
