The effect of leucaena hay as a source of effective fibre and nutrients in diets with forage palm for finishing sheep in semi-arid regions

Antonia L. Moreira et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the intake, digestibility, and nitrogen balance of diets for finishing sheep containing leucaena hay and forage palm. The diets were found to meet the nutritional requirements for sheep and maintain normal physiological conditions. The combination of leucaena hay and forage palm proved to be an important source of effective fiber and nutrients in the diets.

Effect of ensiling persimmon peel and grape pomace as tannin-rich byproduct feeds on their chemical composition and in vitro rumen fermentation

Ainissya Fitri et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the effects of ensiling fruit byproducts on their chemical composition and in vitro ruminal fermentation. Changes in carbohydrate and tannin fractions were different between persimmon peel and grape pomace during the ensiling process. Ensiled persimmon peel seemed to retain the ability to mitigate methanogenesis in the rumen despite changes in tannin insolubilization.
