Detection and genetic characterization of porcine circovirus 4 (PCV4) in Guangxi, China

Wenchao Sun et al.

Summary: The study investigated the prevalence and genome diversity of PCV4 in pigs from Guangxi Province, China, between 2015 and 2019. Results showed that PCV4 shared nucleotide similarity with other representative circovirus genomes and was most closely related to bat-associated circovirus and mink circovirus. This study provides insight into the molecular epidemiology of PCV4 in Guangxi Province, China.

Sero-epidemiology of porcine parvovirus, circovirus, and classical swine fever virus infections in India

Dipak Deka et al.

Summary: Reproductive problems in swine caused by porcine viruses pose a serious threat to the pig industry in developing countries like India. A study conducted in different regions of India revealed high seroprevalence of classical swine fever virus, porcine circovirus-2, and porcine parvovirus. The research indicated that single infections were more prevalent than co-infections, providing important insights for the prevention and control of these viruses.

Widespread Prevalence of Antibodies Against Swine Influenza A (pdm H1N1 09) Virus in Pigs of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, India

Dhanapal Senthilkumar et al.

Summary: The serological survey on pigs in different states of India revealed varying seroprevalence rates of H1N1 virus, with widespread antibody circulation observed in pigs from eastern Uttar Pradesh. The co-circulation of seasonal H1N1 virus and pandemic H1N1 virus in pigs suggests potential spill-over transmission of influenza from humans to pigs. Continuous and systematic molecular surveillance in pig populations is recommended to mitigate the risk and emergence of pandemic influenza.

Emergence of porcine circovirus 2g (PCV2g) and evidence for recombination between genotypes 2g, 2b and 2d among field isolates from non-vaccinated pigs in Mizoram, India

T. K. Rajkhowa et al.

Summary: The study identified a new PCV2g genotype in 9 out of 14 PCV2 isolates from pigs in Mizoram, India, along with PCV2d and PCV2b genotypes. Recombination evidence was found between genotypes 2b, 2g, and 2d. The findings suggest a natural genotypic shift in the absence of vaccination, highlighting the importance of routine surveillance and genotyping of PCV2.
