Measurement of airway pressure during high-flow nasal therapy in apnoeic oxygenation: a randomised controlled crossover trial*

T. Riva et al.

Summary: This study investigates airway pressures generated by high-flow nasal therapy in anaesthetised and paralysed apnoeic patients. It shows that there is a non-linear increase in airway pressures with increasing flow rates in closed mouth conditions, while the increase in pressure is negligible with an open mouth. Additionally, the position of the catheter does not influence airway pressures.

Evaluating the ventilatory effect of transnasal humidified rapid insufflation ventilatory exchange in apnoeic small children with two different oxygen flow rates: a randomised controlled trial*

T. Riva et al.

Summary: A study found that there was no significant difference in carbon dioxide clearance between 2 and 4 liters per kilogram per minute flow rates of high-flow nasal therapy in apnoeic children weighing 10-15 kg.
