Lipid-Oriented Live-Cell Distinction of B and T Lymphocytes

Haw-Young Kwon et al.

Summary: The study introduces a small-molecule probe, CDgB, to differentiate B lymphocytes from T lymphocytes, which was previously only possible with the help of antibodies. It was found that B cells exhibit higher flexibility in their cell membrane and preferentially accumulate the lipid-like probe CDgB. By tracking the cell membrane changes of progenitor cells, the study revealed the dynamic reorganization of membrane properties during lymphocyte differentiation.

Twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT) and twists beyond TICT: from mechanisms to rational designs of bright and sensitive fluorophores

Chao Wang et al.

Summary: This review highlights the importance of the TICT mechanism in guiding the development of bright and sensitive fluorophores. It also summarizes the molecular design strategies and compares the twisted intramolecular charge shuttle (TICS) and twists during photoinduced electron transfer (PET) mechanisms. Understanding the structure-property relationships between twisted geometries and fluorescence can aid in the rational development of fluorophores involving molecular twisting in the excited state.
