Automated Chiral Analysis of Amino Acids Based on Chiral Derivatization and Trapped Ion Mobility-Mass Spectrometry

Jonas M. Will et al.

Summary: A fast and fully automated method for chiral analysis has been developed by combining chiral derivatization with high-resolution trapped ion mobility separation. The method allows for rapid chiral analysis within 3 minutes per sample and is robust in samples containing high amounts of salts. Highly sensitive detection of amino acid diastereomers was possible down to the lower nanomolar concentration range, with excellent reproducibility and precision in determining enantiomeric ratios.

Chiral Analysis of Lactate during Direct Contact Coculture by Single-Cell On-Probe Enzymatic Dehydrogenation Derivatization: Unraveling Metabolic Changes Caused by D-Lactate

Yu-Ling Li et al.

Summary: The study utilized in vitro cell-based coculture models and single-cell mass spectrometry (SCMS) to deepen the understanding of the unique metabolite D-lactate released by cancer cells, revealing its key role in the metabolic behavior of normal cells associated with cancer. Drug treatment could alleviate these metabolic changes. This discovery may offer a novel direction for cancer therapy by investigating D-lactate metabolism.
