Summary: This study aimed to investigate the mechanisms of bilateral lung injury caused by unilateral ligation of the pulmonary artery and its prevention through inhalation of 5% CO2 in healthy pigs undergoing controlled mechanical ventilation. Results showed that unilateral ligation led to bilateral lung injury, which was less severe in the group receiving 5% CO2 inhalation.
