Monitoring combustion instabilities of stratified swirl flames by feature extractions of time-averaged flame images using deep learning method

Yuchen Zhou et al.

Summary: This study investigates the application of deep learning methods in monitoring combustion instabilities using a CNN model named BIM. The experiments show that the model can achieve a prediction accuracy of around 99% after a short training process, and it can accurately identify unstable features of unknown operating conditions. The results demonstrate the potential of the BIM model in monitoring and controlling combustion instabilities.

Analyzinglean blow-off limits of gas turbine combustors based on local and global Damkohler number of reaction zone

Zhonghao Wang et al.

Summary: Lean Blow-Off (LBO) is important for propulsion systems, and a hybrid LBO prediction method combining Damkohler model and numerical simulation has been proposed in this study. The research shows that both local Da number and global Da number can be used to analyze the occurrence of LBO, with LBO potentially happening when the global Da number is below 1.

Modal decomposition of the unsteady non-reactive flow field in a swirl-stabilized combustor operated by a Lean Premixed injection system

F. J. Salvador et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the numerical analysis of low-order coherent structures in a high-swirl laboratory-scaled combustor operated by a Lean Premixed injection system under non-reacting conditions. Utilizing flow modal decomposition techniques, it reveals a self-excited hydrodynamic instability characterized by a single dominant frequency. By applying Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) and Dynamic Mode Decomposition (DMD), the study identifies the Precessing Vortex Core (PVC) and the most dominant unsteady vortex structures, demonstrating the efficiency of DMD in handling temporally coherent issues.

Experimental investigations of equivalence ratio effect on nonlinear dynamics features in premixed swirl-stabilized combustor

Zhuming Rao et al.

Summary: In this study, the dynamics of pressure oscillations and flame behaviors in a premixed swirl-stabilized combustor were experimentally investigated. Different combustion states were distinguished based on acoustic pressures and flame dynamics. The use of permutation entropy and proper orthogonal decomposition proved effective in analyzing signal complexities and spatial images of chemiluminescence.
