Generation and properties of the new asphalt binder model using molecular dynamics (MD)

Hui Yao et al.

Summary: A new molecular model of asphalt was proposed and validated in this study, showing its effectiveness in predicting the microscopic properties of asphalt binder and the relationship between density and hydrocarbon ratios and heteroatom contents. Additionally, the simulation successfully predicted the glass transition temperature range of the asphalt binder model, which closely matched experimental values.

Dynamic chemistry based self-healing of asphalt modified by diselenide-crosslinked polyurethane elastomer

Lei Lyu et al.

Summary: In this study, asphalt binder was endowed with self-healing property through dynamic covalent chemistry by modifying the asphalt with diselenide-crosslinked polyurethane elastomer. The introduction of diselenide bonds enhanced the self-healing capability of polyurethane elastomer and asphalt binder, especially in the early stage after a fracture, opening up new perspectives for preparing asphalt with self-healing property.
