Jianou Huang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated for the first time the steering of an infrared beam by 35 degrees using a passively field-programmable metasurface. By combining wavelength and polarization control, a remote passive metasurface can adjust the infrared beam in a remote access point. The proposed system offers scalability, flexibility, high optical efficiency, simple and cost-effective remote devices, centralized control, and avoids traditional drawbacks.

Pixelated bifunctional metasurface-driven dynamic vectorial holographic color prints for photonic security platform

Inki Kim et al.

Summary: The authors introduced a bi-functional metasurface that combines structural color printing and polarization encoded vectorial holography, showcasing an electrically tunable optical security platform for advanced encryption applications. This metasurface offers versatile polarization control with eight channels, where structural color prints are observed under white light and polarization encoded holograms are reconstructed under laser illumination. A proof-of-concept electrically tunable optical security platform, doubly encrypted for security and anticounterfeiting applications, is developed incorporating liquid crystals.

Metasurface-based key for computational imaging encryption

Peixia Zheng et al.

Summary: The research proposes an optical encryption scheme by introducing metasurface-images (meta-images) into the encoding and decoding processes of SPI encryption as the keys. This approach eliminates the conventional digital transmission process of keys in SPI encryption, enabling the reusability of a single metasurface in different encryption processes. It paves the way toward high-security optical encryption between direct and indirect imaging methods.
