Rational Design of High-Concentration Ti3+ in Porous Carbon-Doped TiO2 Nanosheets for Efficient Photocatalytic Ammonia Synthesis

Qing Han et al.

Summary: The study presents porous carbon-doped anatase TiOx (C-TiOx) nanosheets with high-concentration active sites of Ti3+ obtained through a reproducible bottom-up approach. It demonstrates that the high-concentration Ti3+ sites play a vital role in enhancing N-2 photoreduction activity. Combined with the morphology of porous nanosheets and the loading of a Ru/RuO2 cocatalyst, the optimized C-TiOx shows a high NH3 production rate and remarkable quantum efficiency under visible-light irradiation, outperforming current TiO2-based photocatalysts.

Ag and TiO2 nanoparticles co-modified defective zeolite TS-1 for improved photocatalytic CO2 reduction

Yuanyuan Sun et al.

Summary: The study synthesized zeolite TS-1 co-loaded with silver and titanium dioxide nanoparticles using ion-exchange and in-situ photodeposition methods, resulting in a sample with high surface area, rich defects, and highly dispersed silver nanoparticles. The sample exhibited high CO2 adsorption capacity and improved separation efficiency of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, leading to selective CO and CH4 production with suppressed H2 evolution during photocatalytic CO2 conversion. The super photocatalytic activity was attributed to the synergistic effect among the dispersed silver nanoparticles, support zeolite TS-1, and titanium dioxide with highly exposed {101} planes.

Synergistic Effect of Atomically Dispersed Ni-Zn Pair Sites for Enhanced CO2 Electroreduction

Youzhi Li et al.

Summary: Dual-atom catalysts have shown potential to outperform single-atom catalysts in the electrochemical conversion of CO2 due to a synergistic effect observed in atomically dispersed Ni-Zn bimetal sites. The heteronuclear coordination modifies the d-states of the metal atom, narrowing the gap between εd and EF to strengthen electronic interaction at the reaction interface, leading to improved catalytic efficiency.

Highly Efficient Electroconversion of CO2 into CH4 by a Metal-Organic Framework with Trigonal Pyramidal Cu(I)N3 Active Sites

Hao-Lin Zhu et al.

Summary: In this study, a Cu-based metal-organic framework was introduced as a catalyst for the efficient and selective reduction of CO2 to CH4. The in situ-generated trigonal pyramidal Cu(I)N-3 was identified as the electrochemical active site, while the hydrogen-bonding interactions of adjacent aromatic hydrogen atoms played a key role in stabilizing key intermediates of carbon dioxide reduction and inhibiting the hydrogen evolution reaction, demonstrating a high performance in electroreduction of CO2 to CH4.

Selective Reduction of CO2 to CO on an Sb-Modified Cu Electrode: Spontaneous Fabrication and Physical Insight

Hong Li et al.

Summary: By developing a facile galvanic displacement protocol, a copper electrode modified with antimony (Sb) clusters was able to selectively convert CO2 to CO with a Faradaic efficiency of approximately 82% and a stable reduction current for over 12 hours. In situ infrared spectroscopy showed a weaker and red-shifted CO band on the Sb-modified copper electrode compared to the unmodified copper electrode, indicating a change in electronic structure that weakened CO binding strength at copper sites. These findings offer insights for the rational design of high-selectivity CO2RR electrocatalysts through proper interfacial structure engineering.
