Highly Stable Ag-Au Core-Shell Nanowire Network for ITO-Free Flexible Organic Electrochromic Device

Shengyun Huang et al.

Summary: The design of flexible electrochromic devices requires careful consideration of each component for improved performance and stability. A novel flexible organic EC device using Ag-Au core-shell nanowire networks, EC polymer, and solid electrolyte shows excellent stability and high capacitance, with reversible transmittance modulation in visible and near-infrared regions. This device also demonstrates outstanding flexibility and fast switching time.

Flexible and high-performance electrochromic devices enabled by self-assembled 2D TiO2/MXene heterostructures

Ran Li et al.

Summary: Transition metal oxides (TMOs) are promising electrochromic (EC) materials for applications such as smart windows and displays, but achieving good flexibility, high coloration efficiency and fast response simultaneously remains a challenge. MXenes and their derived TMOs are good candidates for high-performance and flexible EC devices due to their 2D nature and the possibility of assembling them into loosely networked structures. The authors demonstrate flexible, fast, and high-coloration-efficiency EC devices based on self-assembled 2D TiO2/Ti3C2Tx heterostructures, with the Ti3C2Tx layer as the transparent electrode and the 2D TiO2 layer as the EC layer.

Fast-Switching Vis-IR Electrochromic Covalent Organic Frameworks

Derya Bessinger et al.

Summary: Electrochromic thin films based on covalent organic frameworks (COFs) exhibit high coloration efficiency and fast switching speeds, with reversible absorption changes of close to 3 OD triggered at low operating voltages and low charge per unit area. The champion material reaches a coloration efficiency of 858 cm(2) C-1 at 880 nm and maintains >95% of its response over 100 oxidation/reduction cycles, with extremely fast response times below 0.4 seconds for oxidation and around 0.2 seconds for reduction.
